SkinCeuticals leads the industry first introducing vitamin C as a topical antioxidant providing advanced environmental protection.

About our antioxidants

Skin naturally protects itself with antioxidants; however, as it is bombarded with environmental aggressors, its natural supply is quickly depleted and requires supplemental protection.

With nearly 3 decades of research, SkinCeuticals pioneered the industry in antioxidant technology, developing formulations that protect against the DNA mutations that cause serious skin damage. Over the last 15 years, the SkinCeuticals scientific team has researched 100s of antioxidants, discovering only four get into skin and effectively supplement its natural antioxidant reservoir. These include L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C), alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E), ferulic acid, and phloretin.

Research shows that specific combinations of antioxidants, when effectively formulated, perform synergistically to provide superior results to any single antioxidant formulation.

Our research began with vitamin C, an antioxidant essential to all plants and animals. After years of development, we were able to combine vitamins C and E, doubling the protection of vitamin C alone.

Our next advancement combined the powerful plant antioxidant, ferulic acid, with the already synergistic benefits of vitamins C and E, again yielding unprecedented results: 8X’s the skin’s natural protection.

The addition of another plant antioxidant, phloretin, defined an entirely new class of protection, known as broad spectrum antioxidants. This class exhibits broad-range activity to combat the entire range of reactive oxidative species.

The introduction of a serum-in-a-gel technology revolutionized the texture of high potency topical antioxidants while maintaining the integrity and efficacy of proven serum formulation
